Thorri Jensson produced an impressive comeback in the final to defeat Sigurður Kristjánsson 9-7 and claim his second Icelandic National Snooker Championship.

Held at the Snooker and Pool Lágmúla venue in capital city Reykjavík, Jensson began his campaign in the last 16 where he needed to survive a deciding frame in order to oust Agnar Már Olsen, 5-4.

The 35-year-old from Hafnarfjörður then eliminated Halldor Mar Sverrisson (5-2) and Bernhard Bernhardsson (7-2) in the quarter and semi-finals respectively.

Runner-up to former professional and Crucible Theatre qualifier Kristian Helgason in 2015, Kristjánsson booked a second final appearance in this tournament courtesy of a 7-4 victory over Asgeir Jon Gudbjartsson in the other last four tie.

Kristjánsson looked set to lift the trophy, establishing a 6-2 first session lead before extending his advantage to five frames. However, Jensson constructed a memorable turnaround, stringing together seven consecutive frames to become national champion for the second time following his maiden success in 2020.
