Itaro Santos will be offered a professional tour card for the next two seasons as reward for winning the third Pan American Snooker Championship.

Held at the La Paz Tennis Club in Bolivia’s capital city, this multi-continental event featured participants from Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, the USA and the host nation, but it was the familiar name of Brazilian Santos who would emerge triumphant.

A field of 31 players began the event in a round robin format, with 16 qualifying for the knockout phase. Come the latter stages and it was a strong Brazilian contingent that almost dominated proceedings with three of the four semi-finalists representing the country. However, there was some joy for home supporters as Bolivia’s Leonardo Virraoel finished fourth.

The final was a one-sided affair, with the experience of Santos proving too much for countryman Thadeu Nobres as he recorded a 6-0 whitewash.

Should he accept the invite, Santos will follow in the footsteps of fellow Brazilian Igor Figueiredo onto the sport’s top tier.
