Swiss Snooker Success for Fulcher

Defending champion Jonni Fulcher defeated Alain Vergère 6-2 in the final to win the 2018 Swiss National Snooker Championship.

Throughout the Swiss domestic season, players competed in several events to earn enough ranking points to qualify for the latter stages of the national championship that culminated with the final four taking part in a Finals Day held in Basel.

Those semi-finals produced contrasting outcomes. Fulcher crafted a break of 125 as he dispatched Kevin Wegmann 5-0 whilst Vergère ousted last year’s runner-up Marvin Losi 5-4.

Vergère made the stronger start to the final, registering runs of 37 and 52 as he took a 2-0 lead, but Fulcher turned the tables by winning the next six frames – highlighted by a 70 break – to retain the championship.
