Current main tour professional Thor Chuan Leong claimed the 2016 Malaysian National Snooker Championship held at the S Club in Seri Kembangan.

The world number 110 – who returned home during the off-season – entered the fray in the latter stages courtesy of being a seeded player.

After a 4-0 win the last 64, Thor had to survive a 4-3 deciding frame finish against Michael Tan in the last 32. He then eliminated Thean Mun Kit 5-3, Partick Ooi 5-3 and Yew Wah Chooi 6-2 to reach the final.

There he faced his Malaysian World Cup partner from last year, Mohd Reza. In what was expected to be a keenly contested match, Leong emerged a 6-0 victor to win the championship for a fourth time in the 28th staging of the event.

Losing quarter-finalist Saiful Bahari made the competition’s highest break with an effort of 124.
