A quarter of a century on from his previous triumph in the event, John White won the 2015 Canadian National Snooker Championship.

Held at the Corner Bank Sports Bar and Grill in Toronto, it was the 41st edition of a championship that has a roll of honour including Cliff Thorburn, Kirk Stevens, Alain Robidoux and Jim Wych.

Following the conclusion of the groups and early knockout rounds, a fancied lineup featured in the semi-finals, although last year’s winner Alan Whitfield was eliminated by White in the last eight.

Two-time victor of this trophy, Floyd Zeigler, got the better of 1990 British Open champion Bob Chaperon 6-3 in a quality encounter, whilst White defeated Derek Martin 6-1 in the other last four tie. White then denied Zeigler 6-2 in the final to claim the trophy he initially lifted for the first time in 1990.

Runner-up Zeigler collected the tournament’s high break prize courtesy of his effort of 120.

In the double elimination Canadian Seniors Snooker Championship, Nova Scotia’s Kristal MacLeod went undefeated throughout to win the title.

Event date: 7th-14th June 2015.
