Five Star Petrov Retains in Estonia

Andres Petrov continues to dominate the scene in his home country after winning a fifth consecutive Estonian National Snooker Championship.

Held at the Club 147 venue in capital city Tallinn and organised by the Estonian Snooker Federation, Petrov was just too strong for the opposition. After qualifying from his group and coming through the quarter-finals, he defeated Marko Jersov 5-0 in the last four with breaks of 60 and 106.

In the final Petrov met Alexander Leitmae and compiled efforts of 58, 65 and 91 to record a 6-0 victory. It meant that he lost only one frame during the entire tournament – in the groups phase.

Petrov is undoubtedly one of Eastern Europe’s most promising players. At this year’s 2017 EBSA European Amateur Championships in Cyprus he reached the semi-finals of the under-21 event where he lost to eventual winner Alexander Ursenbacher.

Better was to come in the subsequent main competition where he went all the way to the final before being denied a professional tour place by Chris Totten.
