Henry Killian completed a hat-trick of New Zealand National Snooker Championship titles following a largely dominant performance in the 2015 event held at the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club.

The 52-year-old from Auckland – who was champion in 2012 and 2013 – began his bid to regain the trophy with a perfect record during the initial round robin phase. He continued his streak in the knockout rounds, eliminating Jamie Butler in the last 16, 5-0.

Killian dropped his first frames of the week during his quarter-final tie with Dave Witehira, but still emerged a 5-2 winner. He then saw off Matthew Scarborough 6-0 in the semi-finals.

His stiffest test would come in the final against Hawke’s Bay cueist Bayden Jackson, who had dethroned reigning champion Mark Canovan on route.

Jackson held 3-2 and 4-3 leads in the best-of-15 frames title match, but Killian strung together five frames in a row for an 8-4 triumph.

Killian also made the tournament’s highest break – an effort of 97.
