Former world billiards champion Peter Gilchrist showed his cuesports versatility by winning the 2018 Singapore National Snooker Championship.
A competition played across several weeks, English born but Singaporean resident Gilchrist came through the majority of his matches comfortably, although he did have to endure a 4-3 deciding frame finish against Danny Lam in the last 16.
During his semi-final victory over Jaden Ong Jia Jun, Gilchrist crafted a run of 127 which would stand as the tournament’s highest break.
Gilchrist’s opponent in the final at the Cuesports Singapore Academy was Marvin Lim Chun Kiat – an invitee to the world professional championship qualifiers earlier this year. A relatively close encounter, Gilchrist prevailed 4-2 to claim the title and trophy.
